A Culinary Journey Through Kathmandu

Last month, the Momo Mobile team took a hiatus to visit Kathmandu, Nepal. Our mission? To eat everything in sight.

Street Food Heaven

Kathmandu is a sensory overload in the best way possible. The smell of incense mixes with frying dough and roasting spices.

Kathmandu Streets

We visited Asan Tole, the old market square, where spices are piled high in open sacks.

Inspiration for the Truck

We noticed a few trends we want to bring back to Denton:

  1. Laphing: A cold, spicy noodle dish that is refreshing in the summer.
  2. Sel Roti: A sweet, ring-shaped rice donut.
  3. Buffalo Meat: While we use Bison here in Texas, the traditional water buffalo meat has a texture we are trying to replicate.

“The food culture in Nepal is about community. You don’t eat alone; you share plates.”

We came back with full bellies and a notebook full of ideas. Stay tuned for our Winter Special Menu dropping next month!
